This workshop is designed to help scientists better communicate the impact and importance of their work through storytelling. Scientists need a tool such as storytelling to better communicate their work to a diverse audience of scientists and “non-scientists” alike..
Broad public understanding of science is crucially important in our world today, yet many segments of our population remain uninformed--or even skeptical--of the important contributions scientists make towards public health, new technology, sustainability and further exploration of our universe. Oftentimes, scientists themselves are only trained in skills appropriate for communicating their work to other scientists and not the general public. Scientists need a tool to better communicate their work to a diverse audience of “non-scientists” for additional funding, promotion of their work, and a stronger understanding of science in our communities.
